JP-4 EXPOSURE PLUS INJURY EQUALS LOST KIDNEY

Margaret,

Just came across your site while researching my next attempt to get the VA to entertain my claim for Vietnam era related injury. I couldn't help but, think the Gulf war vets may have time bombs ticking inside them from exposures they experience similar to Vietnam era vets except Agent Orange.

My tour in Chu Lai as a 76W20 Petroleum Storage Specialist brought me in contact with a variety if hazardous materials including Mogas, Diesel, JP-4, Solvents, various grease and lubricants. Daily our combat base was sprayed with Phenothrin (C23H26O3) by tanker plane. I don't know what other chemicals were included with this daily shower. The Phenothrin 2% was sprayed inside military flights before take-off, after we had boarded the craft.

On three occasions I was completely soaked in JP-4. The first time I thought I would die right there on the Cobra pad in Chu Lai. When I went to the 91st Evac they turned me away, telling me to take a shower and bury my uniform. My skin was orange and felt like a severe sunburn.

Later that year I received 2 blunt force traumas to my right side so severe I was off to the 91 Evac for xrays thinking for sure I had broken ribs, none broken. One resultant of Physical training exercise and the other during an attack on our company.

In 1993 I was diagnosed with a tumor in my right kidney which later was determined to be a renal clear cell carcinoma. I lost that Kidney and a rib. I don't think its just a coincidence that my right kidney failed. The VA felt there wasn't enough medical evidence to consider this related. Of course, they need to save on claims so the VA IT crews get a bonus. I'm reading that 1 in 5 dialysis patients die every year, so I want to get everything resolved before I'm in that statistical segment.

Dr. Howard Chang of Stanford University has discovered that wound healing genes influence cancer progression.

Currently, I'm waiting on biopsy results for skin abnormalities. Who knows what other time bombs I have in my body, compliments of the War.

I think it is the pesticide/solvent in jet fuel and in gun cleaners, and in explosions (similar) in addition to all the other things that harm you during war, I strongly suspect the worst and most frequent of all is that of GLYCOL ETHER which causes autoimmune hemolytic anemia (most frequently used glycol ether is ethylene glycol monobutyl ether or 2-butoxyethanol. It is a common chemical of harm for most ... this past century, but most especially during war times.

It targets kidneys, liver, blood and blood forming organs, and , and, and

One of the chemical exposures for the 90-91 Gulf War vets was a commonly used chemical from the 1930s to the present. It IS on the list of solvents and pesticides the gulf war troops were exposed to. 2-butoxyethanol and its compound version, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, are solvents, but also in some odd way ... pesticides. *  Look to glycol ether exposure in general!
