Dear Friends,
NPR had an interesting story about
Thanksgiving.
President Lincoln
originally declared Thanksgiving to be on the last Thursday of
November. But some years November has five

FDR declared Thanksgiving would be the fourth Thursday of

Christmas to help break the depression. It became a huge
political issue between Democrats and Republicans; especially in
the 1940
Presidential election. FDR rescinded his order but in
1941 the Democratic Congress declared Thanksgiving the fourth
Thursday and that is where it has been ever since.
Happy Thanksgiving, the fourth Thursday of November, Mr
