Just because a company is says a
product is 'safe' or non toxic ....
does not mean that is the case. Maybe they
don't realize that some ingredients are
health-hazardous.
I am looking
forward to finding out what is in their general

I'm looking into IMUS cleaners, but still wonder

About Imus Greening
the Cleaning® products
Today's cleaning products contain many
chemicals that may be harmful to your health and
the health of your children. Because indoor
pollutants are not as easily dispersed as
outdoor pollutants, concentrations of toxic
chemicals may be much greater indoors.
Health effects from some household products
can be acute or chronic. Acute effects are
short-term and can include such symptoms as
headaches, eye and/or throat irritation, or even
nausea. Acute effects also include triggering of
asthma attacks or allergic reactions. Chronic
effects are those long term effects such as
cancer, chemicals that can affect the unborn,
and neurotoxins (nervous system effects).
Did You Know?
-
Indoor air is often two to five times more
contaminated than outdoor air.
-
Childhood asthma has nearly doubled in the
last 20 years (American Lung Assoc.) and
some cleaners may be triggers to asthma
attacks.
-
The average home contains 25 gallons of
hazardous chemicals - a major portion of
these can be found in household cleaning
products.
-
In 1999, 92% of all poisonings occurred in
the home.
-
Cleaning products are involved in 11% of
poisoning exposure in children under 6 years
of age.
-
82,000 synthetic chemicals are in production
today. Many are suspected to cause cancer or
other health effects, but only2% have been
fully checked by the EPA for safety.
Change your perception of what "clean" is.
Clean is more an absence of odor rather than a
masking of odors with cleaning products. More
evidence is showing that synthetic fragrances
can also be asthma triggers or cause
allergic-like reactions in some people.
Greening the Cleaning®
means eliminating to the greatest extent
possible, all cleaning agents containing
hazardous ingredients and replacing them with
environmentally responsible, less-toxic products
that utilize natural or naturally-derived
ingredients, and ingredients from renewable
resources whenever possible.
The Award Winning
Greening the Cleaning® products have been
developed by The Deirdre Imus Environmental
Center for Pediatric Oncology® at Hackensack
University Medical Center.
Our products are used in leading hospitals,
schools, and businesses throughout the United
States.
We hope you enjoy your

Greening the Cleaning® means
eliminating to the greatest extent
possible, all cleaning agents containing
hazardous ingredients and replacing them
with environmentally friendly products
that utilize natural or
naturally-derived ingredients.*
The Deirdre Imus Environmental Center
for Pediatric Oncology uses the
following standards, adapted from the
U.S. Department of Interior’s “Guidance
and Training on Greening Your Janitorial
Business - Environmentally Preferable
Attributes of Chemical Cleaners” and
other standards as guidance, when
formulating its cleaning and related
products.
Our products:
- Must be
free of any known human carcinogens, mutagens or
teratogens
- Products must not be listed on
the hazardous air pollutants list of
the Environmental Protection Agency
(2-butoxyethanol isn't ...
since 2003 ... but it should be) it is
also a suspected teratogen ...
but USA doesn't say so) |
*While
the Environmental Center strives to use only
all-natural, or all naturally- derived
ingredients wherever possible, effective
all-natural replacements are not available for
every type of cleaning product at this time. For
this reason, the Environmental Center currently
offers its customers two lines of products: the
DIN line, which contains
predominantly natural or naturally derived
ingredients, and the DIC line, which
contains some synthetic ingredients for
which effective natural substitutes have yet to
be developed. Our disinfectants and sanitizers
are in the DIC line, since the effectiveness of
such products at killing germs is paramount and,
to our knowledge, synthetic microbicides are
simply more effective than potential
replacements of natural origin.

Our Glass & Window Cleaner is a
naturally derived cleaner made primarily from
replenishable natural resources and free of
fuming solvents, alcohol, ammonia, acids and is
non-flammable. Works on contact to remove
