| My very best friend and
Mother-in-law had a seizure that
lasted 3 hrs and was rushed to the hospital, she has never had a
seizure before.
They discovered a tumor and had two surgeries within 5 days. She is an active smart 62 year old woman. Now we don't recognize her and she is totally aware she is not the same. She now has epilepsy caused by the chemical change in her brain. I guess I am trying to find someone who can tell me if her behavior is normal for this and if it is something that will get better maybe or will stay. The operations were successful and the doctors said they did not have to touch and go into the brain. So I am left with only two real conclusions, the medication is causing these symptoms in her, or she is so terrified she cannot function. She cannot remember things short term, she will say a prayer and then a minute later cannot remember what she said but does remember she said a prayer. She has trouble saying what she is thinking and gets upset because she cannot coherently express herself, find the words she needs. She repeats the same things over and over. She is refusing to go anywhere or see people because she is afraid she might not remember something and it embarrasses her. If she gets really upset she stutters. She has panic attacks and severe nightmares. We are trying to find some sort of a support group but we live in a rural area and there isn't much to find. She goes in next week to find out what kind of chemo and radiations they want to do as a precaution since some of the tumor had some cancer in it. If anyone has any advice or links that I can go to that will help me would be so appreciated. I am saying a prayer for all those who are now going through this and those who are survivors.
