Some years ago, health researchers were predicting that by the year 2010 ... one out of every 2 people would have a diagnosis of cancer at some time in their lifetime.

Looks like things are getting worse, not better (because glycol ether exposures aren't getting the blame for what they do)

Suspect exposure to Glycol Ether (especially 2-butoxyethanol) for causing 'the flu' *  and many autoimmune health issues thereafter  (CFIDS, CFS, FM)

What are the glycol ethers?  *  *

Glycol: any of a class of organic chemicals characterized by having separate two hydroxyl (-OH) groups, contribute to high water solubility, hygroscopicity and reactivity with many organic compounds, on usually linear and aliphatic carbon chain. The general formula is CnH2n(OH)2 or (CH2)n(OH)2

  • It has been three full days since I tried baking soda for deodorant, & no underarm odor still! Staff at Harborview used baking soda & hydrogen peroxide for resident 'tooth brushing.' When the visiting dentist did resident 'check ups' they had the cleanest teeth! Would help with bad breath, too (?) Someone just asked me about Tom's (said to be natural). I looked it up again: http://www.valdezlink.com/re/health/deodorant/toms.htm#t

2-butoyethanol and other butyl ethers are most likely the cause of gulf war syndrome (per my study ... awaiting the medical evidence) and CFS, CFIDS & the like.

Now here's a handy reference on how one's body gives you warning that you have been exposed to too much of any chemical ... continuing on to share more specifically what this butyl ether will do.

2-butoxyethanol's first cause of harm is to the red blood cells. It is the first noticeable effect of this chemical: fatigue. It is a hemolysis that doesn't show up in the regular tests, but with a retic ratio (mature to immature red blood cell ratio) you will notice an abnormal reading from 2.5 days after exposure. This compensated hemolytic anemia starts up right away and underlies all other symptoms. It is the cause of your fatigue.

The reason this chemical's harm is so hard to diagnose is that it affects so many systems in one's body and sometimes the results of one ailment counter the test results on others. AND doctors don't expect one chemical overexposure to affect so much.

My theory is that the unknown fatigue of CFS, etc is most probably this fatigue: premature red blood cell destruction. I believe it is provable. Share these comments with your doctor and let's see what the evidence is
