Feb, 2011:  EPA News Release (HQ): EPA Removes Confidentiality Claims on Studies of Chemicals Submitted under TSCA

http://www.valdezlink.com/re/epa/requiresdisclosure.htm
thank you for this
If you can make gasoline out of corn, then you can make all its derivatives, too?    And since the law does not require glycol ethers to be disclosed in home cleaning products, companies will only disclose 2-butoxyethanol and other glycol ethers if they feel like doing so.  Expect to see 'all natural' and non toxic as common claims
Go Green?

Don't expect EPA's OK to mean anything.  They have let us down to disclaim the harm of glycol ether and to ignore it.  Congress has let us down to not require all ingredients of a home cleaning product to be disclosed, most especially glycol ethers with butyl (Suspect THIS harm from glycol butyl ether *)

Want to clean well and to clean safely?  First use baking soda paste.  Then disinfect by spraying hydrogen peroxide alternately with white vinegar spray.  Clean, disinfected, safe for you and those who live there
I have looked into the harm of glycol butyl ethers and found them to be a major contributing  cause of CFIDS.  I strongly suspect them for causing many autoimmune issues, cancers, birth defects and 'military syndromes'

Doctors and researchers should give their harm serious consideration.
All are at serious risk for too much exposure,
especially those who work hard,
or who are around those over exposed

Mild exposure is immediate: 'the sniffles,' flatulence, diarrhea, eyes watering & burning.
Serious exposure looks like what we call 'the flu'

How can we get Congress to disclose them in ALL products?

No hazard warnings in home cleaning products - pdf

This is worth reading

"When it comes to working with household cleaners, studies have found the greatest potential danger exists for professional house cleaners or janitors [source: UC Berkeley]. That said, tidying up a ventilated bathroom with a normal amount of cleanser won't send you to the hospital, but there are probably a few substances contained in them that you might not want around."

"Four years in the making, the team's 330-page study and report, "Indoor Air Chemistry: Cleaning Agents, Ozone and Toxic Air Contaminants," was posted online by the ARB on Wednesday, May 10.

The ARB asked Nazaroff and his team to focus their work in two areas: an investigation of toxic air contaminants in household cleaning products and air fresheners, especially a class of chemicals known as ethylene-based glycol ethers; and an examination of the chemistry that occurs when such products are used indoors - in particular, products that contain a reactive group of chemicals called terpenes.

Ethylene-based glycol ethers are common, water-soluble solvents used in a variety of cleaning agents, latex paints and other products. They are classified as hazardous air pollutants under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments and as toxic air contaminants by California's Air Resources Board. Their toxicity varies with their chemical structure."

"The take-home message from these studies, according to Nazaroff, is that everyone - but especially cleaning professionals - should be cautious about overuse of products with high levels of ethylene-based glycol ethers and terpenes. Rooms should be ventilated during and after cleaning, some products should be used in diluted solutions as opposed to full-strength, and cleaning supplies should be promptly removed from occupied spaces once cleaning is done"

Caring for those less fortunate

In hospitals, in nursing homes, in OUR homes
Consider a cleaning policy for where the disabled live? ... for us!

Please use extreme care when 'disinfecting' clients homes

We have been fooled to think we are accomplishing this,
but in reality, we spray a poison that is the cause of the harm we seek to be protected against

Why can't law be changed to disclose any glycol ether to housewives? ... especially glycol ether with butyl? *

I have taken a serious look into glycol ether with butyl and do appreciate your information on 2-butoxyethanol, chemical of harm to many Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers.

NJ Hazardous Chemical Fact sheet on 2-butoxyethanol pdf 6 pages

I believe this type of chemical in many various exposures to be the cause of CFIDS, CFS, FM, 'gulf war syndrome'
And as I look into it more, it is non disclosed in most of the spray cleaners used in homes: Clean Shower, Clorox Cleanup with bleach, Lysol disinfectant with bleach ... hundreds that even say safe, non-toxic but you go to their patent & find out otherwise. In fact, an industrial solvent, propylene glycol t-butyl ether, can be non-disclosed up to 20% strength.

This entire family of glycol ether *  needs to be regulated & for sure, disclosed.
It has strongly affected our health as to cancers and multiple autoimmune issues and the environmental hazard they have is that when they break down, they break down into CO and CO2. They should also be considered for strongly contributing to the rapid acceleration of global warming

Check into autoimmune hemolytic anemia for the fatigue of CFIDS, CFS, FM

Look at the Red Blood Cells

Find the ANEMIA that Glycol BUTYL Ether * causes

. . . causes an anemia doctors do not find? *

this chemical's pattern

Blood Damage ... Anemia  ... Autoimmune Issues *   ....  & Cancers, too  *

What I Suspect for the Cause of Autism

Why does the USA think 2-Butoxy Ethanol is NOT Harmful?  *

EGBE is an organic solvent, a neurotoxin, a pesticide, a teratogen

(damages our genes & causes many birth defects) ... a poison !

We are not without research on 2-butoxyethanol

Some research *  and *  and *  and *  and

"High or repeated exposure can break down red blood cells, and cause anemia.

It can also damage the liver and kidneys."

What ER doctors need to know  *

Another cause of very high white blood cell counts is this particular anemia 'side effect'
VERY HIGH WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNTS  *  *

LEUKEMOID REACTION
Classically, in IMHA the stimulation of the bone marrow is so strong that even the white blood cells lines (which have very little to do with this disease but which also are born and incubate in the bone marrow along side the red blood cells) are stimulated.

This leads to white blood cell counts that are spectacularly high.

Affects blood sugar - blood pressure - body temp -  Keep track of yours  *
"I'm convinced that metabolic features (changes in cholesterol and lipid profile, changes in glucose uptake and cell use, mitochondrial diseases and so on) are among main underestimated issue of

2-BE," says a French journalist

This chemical can cause high or low blood sugar, high or low blood pressure; high or low body temp; High or low ... any glandular hormones - often thyroid with gall bladder issues prior; Horrible headaches; short term memory loss

Exposure looks like the flu ... flatulence with diarrhea

 ... sometimes a cough ... 'the sniffles'

Clues to anemia:  'the chills' rapid heart beat, gasping for breath ... pale   *

PLUS depression, headaches, short term memory loss * ...

personality changes ... suicidal tendencies *

Exposure 'looks like' the sniffles ... congestion ... the flu
