What should the City of Valdez do with the Black Gold recreation Hall?  Some asbestos has been found

Another view

An example of the effects of a wrong view of mesothelioma cancer.

Our Nation needs to realize the significance of the harm of 2-butoxyethanol ... very commonly used ... very harmful ... and if we knew what happened to the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers, others would see the parallels between these and soldiers of all war eras this past century, including today.  I believe we would have another perspective on what 'the flu' really is.  I believe we would halt the miriad of birth defects and cancers for many, especially for our children -

Research points to these effects:

To the City of Valdez, City Council:

Could you 'moth ball' the Black Gold building & wait for public opinion/politics to change?

I am upset that our city plans to tear down a perfectly good building because of some asbestos.  Even if it were the cause of lung cancer as believed by many, it isn't a concern unless disturbed, even per this group

What I think is the primary cause of soft tissue sarcomas:

Valdez City Manager reply:  The council considered mothballing but after looking at all the parameters involved, they decided it was in the public's best interest to remove the building, sub-divide the lot into two residential lots, and put those properties out for public sale.

They didn't have all the info, John

Please ask them to reconsider

I firmly believe the wrong chemical is blamed for mesothelioma

For instance, Ford Motor Company is being sued for this ... they say brake pads have asbestos.  Well, what do you think break fluid is?  (double & triple 2-butoxyethanol) http://www.fordvehicles.com

This is also the chemical to suspect for Howard Chaffin's lung cancer and other tumors (tumors all over - even the brain) The pattern of this chemical is that of CFIDS (chronic fatigue syndrome)

I don't think it will be that long before doctors start checking for blood in urine and red blood cell damage that the immune system does when 2-butoxyethanol is the real culprit.  IT is there, too.  I suspect subnormal body temp is there too.  I suspect medical records of many should be looked at in a 'new light' and the best help will be to know what happened to the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers.  Coast Guard and Navy also had workers exposed.  These will 'look like' the military and civilians strongly exposed.

I would like to know how many of the high school graduates (& others who dropped out of high school, but were in the same age bracket) ... of the classes of 88 & '89 ... worked on the Exxon Valdez oil Spill ... and what has happened to them (?) ... For Valdez and Glennallen and Kenny Lake High Schools.  The families in a small area would know what happened to these, and many should have worked on EVOS jobs.  Maybe Ford Motor Co. will help in the funding?

There is also an autoimmune issue of lungs filling up with fluid and the soft tissue sarcomas such as Bonnie Neilsen was dealing with.  Smoking gets the blame, but it's just a good guess.   The autoimmune causing chemical should be suspect.

I heard that Del Welch died about a year after he retired and moved 'outside'  He had lung cancer, lymph cancer, bone cancer and liver cancer.  These are all cancers that 2-butoxyethanol would cause.  During the EVOS of 1989 he delivered the landing craft to the beaches for the experimental 'bioremediation' (His co-worker told me this, but his family didn't think he was even close to the cleanup chemicals)  Did Dell have a subnormal body temp in his last months of life?  Were his red blood cell counts dropping and dropping (even if in the borderline normal range?)

There is extreme urgency in finding out what happened to the workers of EVOS and then to those who were around them in those days (Their family members - Others in our town who lived here in 1989).  Many in our community since 1989 have had exposures that are causing so much of the diabetes, cancers, etc.  It is a teratogen chemical so should be suspect for premature births and birth defects and even SIDS.  It needs to be avoided.  But it will never happen until we learn what happened to the EVOS workers.

Alaska has unfinished business

"Frankly, in all the litigation, and through all the controversy after the spill, nobody has ever asked the question:

What about human health?"

said Dr. John Middaugh, Alaska state epidemiologist.

What happened to the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers?

If you see your children coming out of day care with moisture under their nose ...
(loosening of the sinuses) ... or having diarrhea
... inquire what cleaning products are being used, and when.

Exposure looks like this:

LaJoie & almost everyone around her had a constant cough and runny nose

Or farting *
