To the Valdez City Council,

I would like to be considered for City Council from June 20 - Oct 20 because I have had experience and training in being on a Board:

School Board in Copper River Basin for 1/2 term prior to our moving to Valdez as a family in August of 1991.  And again on the Valdez Planning and Zoning commission from approx November, 1991 to October, 1996.  I had a good attendance record and took my responsibilities seriously:  to listen well to what others say, and to review the information provided, and to make the best decision that I could.

Our daughter attended Valdez schools from 6th grade on.  Each of our three children live here now and are contributing members of Valdez society, and six grandchildren are (& will be) going through the schools here also

I have been trained as an elementary school teacher in Washington State where I earned a Standard Teaching Certificate:  5 years of college with 2 years of successful teaching experience.  When we moved to Alaska in 1985, I took the additional classes needed to keep my credentials updated until just recently.

I have business experience in Real Estate Sales and Rental management from mid 1975 to mid 1985 in Port Angeles, and from Jan, 1992 to the present here in Valdez.  My husband and I have operated Blessing House BnB for 14 years so I also have an interest in tourism.  We have also paid a goodly amount of property tax each year since before 2000.

I believe in contributing to the community you live in, and since the unfulfilled term was held by a woman and there is only one other woman now on the board, I respectfully ask your considering me for this 3 month appointment.
