I purchased the DVD, Lorenzo's Oil ... & shared with the Myelin Foundation, that exposures to 2-butoxyethanol in the family line is the kind of thing that could cause ALD in a boy

2-butoxyethanol causes FATIGUE & Serious Grouchiness! ... oftentimes diabetes - autoimmune concerns. ALD is the kind of birth defect that I would suspect from it.  
 
I have spent a lot of time looking into this chemical & do know how to recognize the pattern of harm it can cause
 
 
I suspect it for being the cause of autoimmune metabolic problems .... many autoimmune kinds of things, actually, and that it can not only have harmed someone in the family line ... but people today can also be harmed by it.

Barlow was right about the disease's being genetically linked. Although she didn't know about her son's ALD, the disease is an X-chromosome-linked disorder, which means it affects only males and is transmitted by a female carrier.

Flu-like symptoms are a sign of a 'right now exposure'  There is a strong second hand solvent exposure to 2-butoxyethanol that 'looks  like the flu' but it is not the flu - it is a chemical poisoning . There could be painting or cleaning going on ... or someone who has been exposed outside of the home ... could be breathing this chemical out in their respiration ... & fumes can get in baby's eyes.  I suspect it for being a primary cause of SIDS.  Look for blood in urine and red blood cells that are small-sized or irregular looking.   Many times with a strong exposure to 2-butoxyethanol people have abnormal blood sugar (up or down), abnormal blood pressure & hormones out of normal range.  FATIGUE and CNS grouchiness, depression, sleeplessness
 
 
My only expertise is that I recognize the pattern of this chemical's harm as I have spent a lot of time looking into it.  Someone in my family was harmed by it when he worked on the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup .  There are 1,000 bioremediation workers who have been harmed by 2-butoxyethanol.  It was an experiment of Exxon to find a money making new product to clean up oil spills.  These are valuable to medical science because so many times, other people harmed by it can suspect other things as causing their ailments.
