Girlfriend allergic to
Just thought I'd post about a little problem I'm having. I'd
appreciate any thoughts anyone has on it..
For the past 2 months, ive been seeing this girl.. and it was
all fine and dandy til I stayed round one night. we slept in
the same bed and she woke up with red, sore, itchy eyes, that
just got worse over a period of about an hour... and then
stays painful and itchy for a few hours....
its happened every time I've stayed round there... and it doesn't
happen when I spend the day around her, hugging her,
etc. only when we sleep in the same bed.
we thought it may have been something i was wearing (hair gel,
deodorant, soap, etc), so I've changed all of them, and its
still doing it. I've tried having a shower right before bed and
not putting anything on... and it still happened..
could she be allergic to my sweat or pheromones? I've been sent
to sleep on the floor in another room til I find the solution
if anyone's got any advice, of has heard of this happening
before, please let me know ...
It's just her eyes.... nothing else..
Thanks in advance..

You may be
expelling 2-butoxyethanol in your breath
It sounds like you are in some way
exposed to a solvent like ethylene glycol monobutyl ether
(2-butoxyethanol). These type of solvents can be expelled through the
respiratory system and the skin. (Gulf war vets wondered why spouses
were coming down with the same symptoms as the 'Gulf War Syndrome'
vets. I personally believe in comparing this group with those known
to be exposed to 2-butoxyethanol, that this is the chemical that
causes most, if not all, of their symptoms)
This is called second hand solvent exposure. I know of a chiropractor
who worked around a lot of people exposed to this chemical in 1989. In
1992 he developed melanoma eye cancer; in 1999 he came down with a
rare form of liver cancer; this usually mild mannered man became 'hard
to live with' He died this year. My theory is that he was exposure to
this chemical by many who were freshly exposed to it and getting rid
of it as best they can. Sometimes he was cheek to cheek in
administering a chiropractic treatment; he also gave therapeutic
Now this is especially why your sweetheart's eyes would water and burn
and that it would last for awhile: exposure of fumes thru the eye
membranes is the worst possible exposure The literature discusses
exposure to skin; not breathing fumes ... but the eyes are the most
serious route of exposure to this chemical. Did either of you have
urine turn dark? Did you also experience extreme fatigue even when
waking up from a full night's sleep? (If you even can sleep thru the
If you go for a check up insist that they do a 'retic'
have not been finding the medical evidence most times; and actually,
don't take this chemical seriously.
But most important, you may have been given a 'wake up call' Check
everything you use at home and at work, and you may 'save' both your
lives, to watch out for any products that contain these chemicals and
NEVER use without goggles, & all the personal protective
PS I also read some solvent
study research that gave a story about a man who had odd breath
his wife didn't like. She asked him to breath away from her. After a
year - the finish on the dresser he was breathing on - came off!
With too much exposure you can become sterile; there can be birth
defects. I hope that you have had a wake up call that prevents any of
these things from happening to you.
What kind of work do you do? Painters, those who clean or work in the
dry cleaning or plastics business can be affected. I believe it may be
the solvent in weapon cleaning compounds; some automotive products;
this forum someone commented that Ian had a bone marrow
transplant that didn't work out and he died. The same
person? I don't know
