HELLO Margaret

I was fascinated by your 2 butoxyethanol concept and I think that it would be interesting to have a list of maybe 10-15 toxins that people might be exposed to. What suggestions do you have beside 2 butoxyethanol and what would be your suspicions of when a large range of people would come in contact with 2 butoxyethanol thanks for your interest and time
John S., M.D.

Thank you for YOUR interest.

Of course, often benzene is suspect;
however, it gets more credit than it is due

valdezlink.com/leforg/checkliver.htm

Last link - there is a difference in the blood damage;

however, I suspect they may both be an autoimmune situation.

I don't know much about the other most hazardous chemicals; but 2-butoxyethanol and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether are two of 100 that EPA tested for endocrine disruption.  I have a back up copy of that web page, but there was also a janitorial study mentioned here   valdezlink.com/same.htm

I suspect many cancer studies, especially for prostate cancer & NHL ...have many who would have blood in urine and immature red blood cells (a clue to 2-butoxyethanol harm)  So it might be nice to know whether or not THE FATIGUE is there (would not be, though if it were a singular birth defect & the parent were the one primarily harmed)

A good person to check with  ... as to what chemicals would be good for such a list, would be Dr. Rea of Dallas, TX  valdezlink.com /inipol/pages/consultants.htm#rea
&/or Dr. Crinnion.  Since they have both been working in the field of chemical exposures they may be better contacts than I.

Dr. Rea has seen some of the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers with known exposure to 2-butoxyethanol and he would like to do a study.  Of course, the research is done, it's learning to recognize all the ails.  I've even wondered about breast cancer ... when one MSDS says 'and other maternal effects.'  valdezlink.com/generic.htm#research

  • For sure you have to add Ethylene Oxide to the list of very harmful chemicals
I suspect it causes 'pneumonia' for our soldiers in Iraq -
pulmonary edema?

Such as in 409 Cleaner    MSDS *

quoting from MSDS under Section 6 NOTES:

"Corexit may contain trace amounts of ethylene oxide * (CAS No. 75-21-8 ETHYLENE OXIDE NJ Hazardous Substance Fact Sheet-pdf format), a condition which creates the potential for accumulation of ethylene oxide in the head space of shipping and storage containers and in enclosed areas where the product is being handled or used.  Ethylene oxide is considered by OSHA, IARC, and NTP as a potential carcinogen * for humans.  Ethylene oxide may also present reproductive, mutagenic, genotoxic, neurologic and sensitization hazards in humans.  If this product is handled with adequate ventilation, the presence of these trace amounts is

not expected to result in any short or long term hazards." *

Why not Corexit?

  • Mercury
  • Lead
PS -

How a large group of people could be exposed to 2-butoxyethanol?

The reason I suspect military are more exposed during war times,
is because it appears to be in all types of gun cleaners and they clean a lot of guns.
Also cleaners in general, and usually one company does the same job over and over again,
so that if they are getting exposure to this chemical, they get too much.

The gulf war vets of 90-91 are a stand out group in my mind, because this chemical is said to be in rocket propellants ... and what did we hear all the time on the news back then?  scuds hit by the Patriot Missiles.
http://home.gci.net/~blessing /pages/aerosol.htm

Chad Pagel shared with me that when his gulf war 1 company secured the airport ... they all lost their bowels ... horrible diarrhea.  I suspect that exposure to this chemical would look like that.  This group is dying off now.  http://home.gci.net/~blessing/pages/finding.htm  Chad shared with me that he had to stir the out house stuff & burned it up with 'jet fuel'  I suspect there are n-butyl ethers in jet fuel.  Numbers 2,3,4,5,6 are labeled as pesticides & give some of the same warnings ... like 'defats skin'  valdezlink.com/jp5.htm

I suspect the n-butyl ethers are damaging our men - sperm counts & motility are declining these recent decades

valdezlink.com/sperm_count.htm

Corexit with 38% 2-butoxyethanol was sold to the Dept of Defense.  It's not good for anything except those who earn money one it.  Sounded like these barrels were sitting in the ARMS room & would have gotten in the eyes of soldiers going in there; also the Navy Seabees have to transport such, so that could be an extra exposure for them.

I think it is in Latex paint (Don't get fumes in your eyes)  It is in many cleaning products.  It is 25% strong in Spot Shot Carpet cleaner ... & did this Persian cat a lot of harm http://home.gci.net/~blessing /pages/cat.htm   and this dog, too http://home.gci.net/~blessing/pages/canine.htm

and I suspect the 2nd hand solvent exposure to babies to be a cause of SIDS -

http://home.gci.net/~blessing/pages/sids.htm

This chemical is a cause of pituitary brain tumors ... & other types, too, most likely

http://home.gci.net/~blessing /pages/brain.htm

I believe this to be a primary cause of diabetes

So as you can tell, I suspect everyone at every age is at risk.

FOR THOSE WONDERING ABOUT THE CAUSE OF HEMANGIOMAS - SEE WHETHER SOMEONE IN THE FAMILY LINE HAS CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

... all that said ....

With direct exposure it would never just cause ONE thing   * *

Look for its pattern ! *

Did you know Simple Green contains 6% 2-butoxyethanol?

Misting it for 45 minutes caused this  man a lot of harm

DO NOT MIST 2-butoxyethanol !

They say that doctors who examined many of the gulf war vets came down with 'the syndrome' too. That is very possible. A doctor I 'met on Patriot Files' sounds like he has the harm of this chemical, but I don't suspect it entered his mind that it could have been from one or more of his patients.

Let me give you an example of 2nd hand solvent exposure I suspect in our town last week: Two ladies of our BnB Assoc came by our house for a 'peer BnB review' It was for a singular item, so they weren't there long, but in the process, one lady was talking about how she never slept. It started up recently. And she talked about being so sick in June with a 'flu' that she just couldn't get rid of.

They had about a 30 minute round trip ride in a car to the next place - which was a full review and would take longer. Well, right away, the other lady became so ill that she was in the hospital with the 'flu' for several days. (I didn't hear about it until the end of the week.) She said she was shaking and so TIRED. I asked her a couple of questions. Nothing stood out. She said that their neighbor had the same thing and 2 weeks prior the Doctor said he had seen it. Must be a virus - they just had the flu. I suspect that the companion lady who never sleeps, in 4 months will have 'THE FATIGUE' that never leaves & that no rest helps. (Red blood cells used to live 4 months - but no more - if it is this autoimmune hemolytic anemia)

I was 'chit chatting' with a lady about her 'horrible fatigue

I seriously doubt that it leaves the body in 24-48 hours as the Chemical Companies lobbied EPA with - "Oh, it doesn't bioaccumulate," they said

EPA has delisted_2-Butoxyethanol as a chemical of Concern?

There is a pattern with the harm of EGBE
It is NEVER just one thing. valdezlink.com/scenario.htm

The pattern is not identical - but as to the core pattern, very similar
Some comments on health changes
valdezlink.com/evos /health_changes.htm

Robin had her spleen & pancreas removed valdezlink.com/evos /othe...th_concerns.htm

The reason the Exxon Valdez oil spill workers are vital to medical science is because the chemical of harm for them was primarily 2-butoxyethanol. Many have been hurt.
valdezlink.com /study_needed.htm#groups
Some comment today: valdezlink.com/evos /summary.htm

My friend in IL who died 6-24-05 had the 'pattern' and was getting Procrit shots weekly for her diagnosed low red blood cell anemia. She was only a hardworking housewife. I wonder whether she could have lived longer with a transfusion of whole blood at the right temperature, given slowly? Until she could have been given glyconutrients, too

valdezlink.com/2-bmsds03.htm
This is the BEST MSDS-research I have found. A doctor can go to the original web site and request other info - not available to me
I am interested to know whether they mean something like breast cancer when "Other female effects" is mentioned

Remember, worst exposure is vapors in one's eyes (also at cuticle area)

Maybe Dr Rea and Dr Patrick Garrett & Dr. Reg could work on a trial for the EVOS workers & many in Valdez with 'diabetes' In the meantime you will identify what a group of PEOPLE looks like who has been harmed by 2-butoxyethanol

I'm looking forward to the day when Congress bans these n-butyl ethers ... and no more people will be harmed by their exposure

PS Dr. Reg is willing to supply glyconutrients for free to gulf war vets &/or other groups ... ALS, such as his company is now doing for those starting the scleroderma trial Still time to be added in!

When I first heard about glyconutrients it sounded too good to be true, and I dismissed it. I have heard more about it now, from various respected sources, and I believe it is a natural help for a righting an autoimmune immune system, and REAL HELP for many, many people.

Could there be other trials?  ALS? NPC cancer?
