There is a fallacy in thinking 

that you can take a 'cure all' pill of some kind 

& do as you please in what you do or don't eat.... 

& do as you please whether you do or don't exercise... 

& you will be fine.

 

'Tain necessarily so...

 

If your doctor requests something special in your diet,  pay attention - this may be as important or MORE important than any medications he/she prescribes.

Also, be sure to keep all doctors informed of all medications you are taking.  There is such a thing as a toxic overload of a medication that can cause 'blacking out' ... even liver damage.

Ask your doctor about what is right for you in diet or exercise.

Does that sound right?

  He is right about Adkins, the premise is that to be healthy we should go back to eating the things God gave early man, namely unprocessed foods:  Meat, eggs, vegetables, whole grains, berries, nuts.  The Adkins book, Dr. Adkins New Diet Revolution is a white book with blue writing on the cover and explains all this plus gives you sample meals and carb counter for foods.  It is at any Freddies or Walmart.  

To lose weight, stay at 20 carbs per day or less.  Meat has no carbs, eggs have 1 carb each, cheese has 1 or no carbs per ounce.  Veggies and berries have small carb amounts. These are the things you eat and when you eat them, two things happen.  Your calorie count generally goes down because you're not eating sugars and starches plus your body goes into lipolysis, fat burning mode.  And zoom, the weight goes off, of course for men it goes faster than for women.  I have lost 21 pounds in about 2 1/2 months, I am satisfied with that.  My hubby has lost about 31 pounds in the same time.  

I have much more energy, less sinus problems, less yeast problems, less bloating/gas, and less lethargy within a week of going on the Adkins diet.  The good thing is you don't get hungry because you can eat any of the above items I met until you're pleased.  Drink lots of water to aid in the weight loss.

 
You think you will miss the items (bread, pastas, sweets, etc.) and psychologically you might for a week or two.  There are several Adkins or low carb snacks that will satisfy that, but cravings go away in a few weeks.  Here is a good tip, don't eat too many nuts, they will slow weight loss.  Also caffeine slows weight loss and aspartame sugar replacement does as well (Equal).  Use Splenda and products with sucralose for the sweet tooth.  If you like sodas, try Diet Rite colas, no caffeine and it has Splenda for a sweetener that Dr. Adkins recommends.
