Inadvertently poisoning own troops?

Congress, Ban these chemicals!

CAS 112-34-5 Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether

[also known as 2-(2-butoxy)ethanol] and

CAS 111-76-2 Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether

[aka 2-butoxyethanol] a widely used glycol ether with butyl

are too harmful to be used safely at home, at work or in the military, either. (products for home use with these chemicals are Lysol Tub 'n Tile and 409 Cleaner) We threw ours out, because who is going to carefully wear goggles & chemical retardant gloves? Exposure is cumulative, so if you are an Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup worker, or a housewife, or a gulf war syndrome vet, I would be sure not to use such products. Most of the time they don't tell you what is in home cleaning products, so you will have to do some checking into it.

I believe the reason we saw 'Gulf War Syndrome' in 1990-1991 for those who served in wartime, is because troops are getting TOO MUCH EXPOSURE to these chemicals.... most especially since 1989 to the present.  They are solvents and pesticides, causing endocrine disruption, blood damage, central nervous system damage, with concern for kidney and liver as well as birth defects, or even sterility.   Multiple cancers seem possible.

This is a very serious matter. We could be poisoning our own troops inadvertently! Congress needs to ban these chemicals. Do you think the troops are wearing goggles and chemical retardant gloves when they clean their guns every day? Well, they are supposed to per MSDS info on CLP. And what is used to 'decontaminate' equipment? Or to degrease/clean other things the military uses?
