I suspect the cause of gulf war syndrome is a particular pesticide/ organic solvent / teratogen / neurotoxin
 
The anemia is the most serious aspect of it
 
Is your husband having seizures?  Shortness of breath?  rapid heart beat?  'the chills?'

I had a son who worked on the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup and was harmed by this chemical in the cleanup: 2-butoxyethanol

You need to watch for 'cold' and flu symptoms as these are signs of new exposure. All must avoid this chemical ... But most especially those who have too much exposure already

I work with rentals, and a new renter in 2003 started sharing about the gulf war vets. When I looked up 'the symptoms' I said, "I recognize those symptoms!" End of that year I noticed that 2-butoxyethanol & similar organic solvents were listed in Book 2 of Solvents & Pesticides gulf war troops were exposed to www.valdezlink.com/same.htm

What happened to gulf war vets is similar to other war eras and it is a mistake to think that every war will have some different harm besides the primary one that is there And there is so much BUTYL or 2-butoxyethanol in our cleaning products, paint, etc it is hard for anyone of any age to avoid it
