I am JDC4058. I served in the storm bravely and honorably just
like the majority of you out there. I have something tearing my
heart out and I would like to know if there is anyone out there
who has suffered the same thing as I have.
In November of 1992 my wife gave birth to by all appearances a
healthy baby girl. 15 days later my baby girl was dead from an
unknown illness. All of her organs began shutting down all of a
sudden and there was just nothing that could be done to save
her. Her liver was the first organ to fail. After that all of
her other organs just shut down one by one. After her funeral I
hired a medical malpractice lawyer to find out just what she
died of as the resident pathologist in the hospital in which she
died could not give me a definitive cause for her death. Her
death certificate states that she died of the Herpes Simplex
Virus. That is a funny thing as neither my wife or my self
suffer from any type of Herpes Simplex Virus. I don't know what
to do. I don't know where to go for help. My heart is broken
forever and I would dearly love for one of my comrades in arms
to tell me what has happened to my beautiful little girl. Please
help!

So sorry about your loss. I can understand how devastated you
must still feel. You mention that you and your wife do not
"suffer" from the herpes simplex virus. From people I
know, I have learned that it could actually be present in your
system without you even being aware of it. If you've never had
an outbreak, it is possible that you would never know that you
had it. Next time you or your wife go to a doctor, ask if there
is a test that can be done to determine whether you carry the
virus or not. Again, my sympathies to you and your family. This
BB has been a tremendous source of support to me and my hub.
Hopefully, it will be for you as well. Sincerely, Pam.

There are no words that I can give to comfort you other than to
tell you that I too have lost a child and I think I can
understand your pain and frustration. My son served in the gulf
and prior to his death his organs shut down one by one also and
we like you stood by helpless. I know for a fact that they must
put something on the death certificate and I personally question
the reasons they give for the death. He died in 1994 and that
was before anyone in the medical field knew much about GWI.
Again, let me say how sorry I am.

It is easy for us to say we are sorry.
But it is not our fault, but it is our responsibility to find
out what is causing all this heartache. If every illness that is
posted because of the GW then we should fight the government for
sending you troops over there. They are nice and healthy while
their brave men and women suffer.

Dear Jody,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I am
assuming you are still searching for some kind of explanation
and answers to your daughter's death. The link below is 'old
news', however, just in case you missed it, there has been cause
for concern about our children from the beginning: http://home.gci.net/~crazy/TIME%20LIFE%20ARTICLE%20ON%20DEFORMED%20KIDS.htm
Duane Mullins has kept very good info posted on his website
for Gulf War Vets: http://home.gci.net/~crazy/main__page.htm
I pray for God's Healing and Comfort in your heart and mind.

Jody, This is got to be every parent's nightmare. I couldn't even
imagine the grief you endured in such a tragic event. May God be
with you my friend.
This brings to mind something that's going on with my 6 yr old
girl. She's been bleeding for a long time now when she passes
urine. (well over a year). We've took her to the Docs about it continuously since it first
started & they are totally stumped as to what it could be. She also complains of an upset stomach often & has frequent
fevers as well.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW OF ANY OTHER PGW Vets having the same thing
happening with their children?
Also my son (8) has the exact same rash as i have. Starts out with
a little itchy bump, then when scratched, turns into a rash, if
untreated, it starts itching PROFUSELY!!
BTW, Mycelex2% helps the rash, but it still returns every few
days to the exact same locations as before & even appears sporadically
in other areas.
sound familiar? (other)-Jody

i came back from the war i was really worried about all the chemicals
i was exposed to, so i went to the vet doc to get
checked out they said i use fine but my wife complained about
burning inside her. every time i would leave some of my friends
in her she would have to get up and run water in that spot. we
gave up on the baby thing for a while. i told the doc about this
but he said i must have vd and i must let my wife know. so both
went to the client. they did every test they knew. two days
later and they said we was clean. i never had a baby with her
because i was scared. i have remarried now my new wife is pregnant
with my baby. i am very scared very scared for my baby.
when i read your letter it was all i could not cry in front of
my wife. i pray for you. but please go after your Congressman get him
involved soon.

I was in the Gulfwar also. I gave birth to my baby girl almost
two weeks because I was having problems in 1992. She did not
weigh enough so we were kept in the hospital longer to get her
weight up. When she turned six months she started having a lot
of stomach problems, along with rashes. She continued to have
stomach problems up to this date. Her pediatrician told me that
we should have her to eat yogurt weekly because it helps. We
started doing that but every time she does not get yogurt she has
problems such as rashes and irritated bottom. I have those
problems also and have been tested for herpes, aides, etc. and
all test remain normal. My son was born in 1993 and his new
blood test showed that there was some type of problem. When we
took him for a second test there was no problem. The tech was
confused and so was I. Since my sons birth he has had a rash
every since. I have used cortisone cream on him so much until
his skin is paper thin. He is seven now and his stomach muscles
just started to close. The doctors thought they would have to do
surgery on him a while back but I prayed and he is better. Both
my children still has these rashes that come and go frequently.
I get tired of hearing that kids get rashes and that is normal
because it is not. I just keep praying and hope that one day
someone will tell us what happened while we were in the gulf.

There are no words to express the deep emotion for the loss of a
child. Know that you are not alone. And if you choose, enter

Both of my younger boys were born after I got back from the War.
My middle boy was 7 weeks early, he stayed in the Hospital for 5
weeks, with min. problems. My youngest son was born 10 weeks
early, he stayed in the Hospital for 3 months on heart and lung
monitors, when he finally came home he was on a heart and lung
monitor for 6 months. He has had various health problems. Since
my wife divorced me I only get to see them 2 times a month. If
anything were to happen to them I dont know what I would do.

Sorry to hear of everyone's problems.
I have two sons, one born
7/91 and another 7/93.
Both are relatively healthy, nothing extreme.
In early 92, my then wife, was about 2 1/2-3 1/2 months
pregnant. This is women that was a total natural health nut. No caffeine, non-smoker, great dietary
variety and refuses Tylenol for bad headaches.
She miscarried. It hurt a lot.
Good luck to all. I seem to notice that most vets are
divorced.......
