Chad
was the first deployed out of Germany, an MP instantly
becoming Combat Soldier upon arriving in Kuwait, and
also the last to leave, after the combat phase of the war,
1990-1991

unnecessary 'exploratory' head stuff

Chad
shared with me that he used to be really quick
mentally -
everything
is so hard now;
the
depression unbearable some days;
the
town remembers an able-bodied coach &
athletic young man
now
using a crutch to walk.
He's
only 33 years old!
He
used to smile, but he can't now;
his
teeth are rotting out:
Not
because he doesn't take care of them, either.
Dec
8, 2003 he has to have 2 more teeth pulled - abscessed
Note
he isn't smiling in his photos.
Said
a
bacteria was found in his blood;
but
it didn't do anything when a sample was taken of
it...
so
inconclusive
(Entry
from mouth? - Ingestion not generally an exposure?)
He's
had convulsions and as soon as he got oxygen in the
ambulance,
he
was OK again
'defatted,'
leathery skin on upper thighs
(where he put the
gun-cleaning rag)

The
Tribune posted this article - the
Community he lives in is hosting a fund raiser on
Oct 25, 2003: a portion of which follows,
"Unfortunately,
Chad’s health continues to worsen from these
chronic illnesses. He has been unable to work since early May 2003.
He has applied to the Veterans Administration
for disability benefits, but this is a long process,
and he is still undergoing tests to determine his
eligibility."
Chad
says if he ever has to go the emergency
room,
they
don't even mention he is a Gulf War Syndrome vet
...
as
the staff is LESS responsive to him.
Guess,
they've learned from experience,
they
don't know what to do.
Are
military before and after primary service period affected,
too?

"As
members of our community,
we need to help those who
put their life on the line,
by serving in the US
Military.
Protecting
and providing freedom for people
they don’t know,
for causes they might not understand,
but simply
because they’re an American Soldier."
