Hubby was with first armored division during desert storm.

Here is information about my children and their illnesses:

  • Let us start with my nine year old daughter: Asthma and  diabetes -no family history on either side of the family for either disease although dad now has asthma and copd- currently testing for leukemia

  • seven year old son: ADHD and failure to thrive

  • four year old  son: autism and failure to thrive

Hi margaret My answers are intertwined with your post

Margaret: The Diabetes and the autism that your daughter has could be part of an autoimmune metabolic issue - a birth defect from your husband's chemical poisoning during the gulf war

  • We lost my daughter last July. Her illness never was diagnosed. Everything they diagnosed her ended up being misdiagnosed and as such treatment for each did more harm than good.

Were any of the children premature?

  • One son was, but he was a twin (stillborn) so his being premature was completely natural

Who was being tested for leukemia? a child or your husband

  • My daughter

I think the soldiers who are in armored divisions get the bomb - weapon fumes in their eyes, and it would be an exposure to a chemical like 2-butoxyethanol. It is a teratogen, so it can cause reproductive harm.

  • Could be, it's a tough call, too many unknowns

So sorry you are going through this - No one should have to see their children suffer.

  • Thank You

Failure to thrive?

  • Inability to grow or digest most food

How are these doing now?

  • Let me put it this way, my 10 year wears a 4T. Sorry I am not real chatty right now. I don't have a lot of time so I am trying to hurry. I'm on my way out the door, but wanted to answer you now. Otherwise your email may end up buried in my inbox and who knows when I will see it. Thanks for writing Tracie
