Who
am I?
I am
married with three grown children and nearly
9 grandchildren. I am a college graduate and
have an elementary teaching certificate from
Central Washington University. I worked as a
real estate broker for ten years in Port
Angeles, WA and then again since 1992 in the
town we live in. We operate a
Bed 'n Breakfast
home in our town.
My interest in
CFIDS began
after
a member of my family worked on
the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup,
1989 &
1990. In
those days,
Exxon ran 'the show'
He didn't share with me,
though, until 2001. I have no medical
background, however, I have come to
recognize what EGBE exposure looks like
|
As a 'learner' I wanted to
know why it was that the chemical mentioned as harmful:
2-butoxyethanol and which research showed caused
autoimmune hemolytic anemia ... was not found by
doctors: just a comment that he had a low red blood cell
anemia and that he had a very serious depression that
Prozac couldn't alleviate.
What a struggle - succeeding over very difficult health
issues: every day of your life ... VERY TIRED and
all-the-time depressed, Later I learned he is
dealing with an autoimmune issue against platelets and
possibly something along the lines of Crohn's. He
also
talked about fuzzy thinking and difficulty
concentrating. In the process of seeking answers,
I believe I have
stumbled onto the
anemia doctors are looking for
My attention turned
towards the 'gulf war syndrome' vets in 2003 after
spending some time getting acquainted with the Exxon
Valdez Oil spill cleanup workers,
I recognized 'the
symptoms' of BUTYL exposure BEFORE I found
2-butoxyethanol and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether on
the list of solvents & pesticides that gulf war troops
were exposed to (Book
2). Researchers have concluded that
except for ALS, there is no difference in the types of
health issues gulf war vets and civilians have. So
it much be
something that is common
for everyone.
